Tampa Bay Rays Roster Report 2009-09-07

--CF B.J. Upton's sprained left ankle is feeling better and Upton, who was injured in a fifth-inning collision on Thursday, is hoping to return for the nightcap of Monday's day-night doubleheader at Yankee Stadium.

--RHP Andy Sonnanstine and RHP Matt Garza will start in Monday's doubleheader, and the pressure will be on Sonnanstine. The Rays said they will decide between Sonnanstine and rookie RHP Wade Davis, who made a dazzling debut on Sunday, for the open spot in the rotation.

--INF Reid Brignac will get a start at shortstop in one game of Monday's doubleheader, with the possibility that regular SS Jason Bartlett, who ranks among the league leaders in hitting, will be the DH.
